The Department of Coir Development, Government of Kerala is organising an international event on Kerala coir and natural fibre products - Coir Kerala 2017, from October 05-09, 2017 at the EMS Stadium in Alappuzha, Kerala, India. This is the seventh edition of the annual Coir Kerala fair. The event aims at exploring and expanding the international and domestic market for coir products from Kerala and to encourage use of latest machinery and technology in the coir production sector.
Coir Kerala 2016, the sixth edition of the annual international event on Kerala coir and natural fibre products organised by the Department of Coir Development, Government of Kerala was held from February 01 – 05, 2016 at Alappuzha in Kerala, India. The event was the biggest so far in terms of participation by buyers, sellers and exhibitors. The five-day expo met its objectives of exploring and expanding the international market for coir products from Kerala and to encourage the use of latest machinery and technology in the coir production sector.
Organised by the Department of Coir Development, Government of Kerala, India in association with the Department of Commerce & Industry, Government of India; Coir Kerala 2015, the fifth edition of Coir Kerala fair was held from 1st to 5th February, 2015 at the EMS Stadium in Alappuzha, Kerala.
More than 170 buyers from 53 countries took part in the meet which generated business deals worth Rs. 2,000 million. There were 100 plus stalls in the International pavilion, 150 stalls in the National pavilion and 250 stalls in the section for general public.
Coir Kerala 2014, the fourth edition of Coir Kerala, the international expo on Kerala coir and other natural fibres, was held from February 01 – 05, 2014 at the EMS Stadium in Alappuzha, the permanent venue for the event. Organised by the Department of Coir Development, Government of Kerala in association with the Department of Comment, Government of India and coordinated by the National Coir Research & Management Institute (NCRMI), the event was a spectacular success with participants from 39 countries, thousands of national and international delegates, 150 plus stalls, buyers, sellers, technology manufacturers, policy makers, academicians, experts from the industry and thousands of coir workers. The five day event was inaugurated by Shri A K Antony, Hon’ble Union Minister for Defence, in a function presided by Shri Adoor Prakash, Hon’ble Minister for Coir and Revenue, Government of Kerala
The third edition of Coir Kerala was the biggest of the three, which gave a whole new dimension not just to the Coir Kerala concept but to the industry itself. Held from February 1-6, 2013, this event conducted by the Government of Kerala in association with the Department of Commerce, Government of India and coordinated by NCRMI (National Coir Research & Management Institute) was an impeccably planned and implemented event that took the glory of the coir to a whole new level.
Inspired by the success of Coir Kerala 2011, the Government of Kerala, in association with the Department of Commerce, Government of India, conducted the second edition of the event ‘Coir Kerala 2012’ from February 4-9, 2012 at the EMS Stadium in Alappuzha.
The event was inaugurated by Shri Oommen Chandy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala State at a function presided by Shri Adoor Prakash, Hon’ble Minister for Coir, in the presence of eminent personalities. More than 10,000 coir workers for the coir industry were present at the function.
Coir Kerala 2011 was the first and the biggest international event of its kind for coir and allied natural fibres. The first edition of the event, Coir Kerala 2011 was held at the EMS Stadium in Alappuzha, Kerala from February 4-9, 2011. A resounding success, this event achieved its core purpose like development and promotion of the coir and natural fibre sector, creating a platform for domestic and overseas buyers to meet and interact with regard to business, trading joint ventures, strengthening of existing markets, establishing new markets, transfer of technology, technical know-how and also ascertain the future of the global natural fibre industry.
