Coir Kerala 2013
Giving coir a whole new dimension…
The third edition of Coir Kerala was the biggest of the three, which gave a whole new dimension not just to the Coir Kerala concept but to the industry itself. Held from February 1-6, 2013, this event conducted by the Government of Kerala in association with the Department of Commerce, Government of India and coordinated by NCRMI (National Coir Research & Management Institute) was an impeccably planned and implemented event that took the glory of the coir to a whole new level.
Inaugurated by Shri Oommen Chandy, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Kerala State at a function presided by Shri Adoor Prakash, Hon’ble Minister for Coir & Revenue, Coir Kerala 2013 took off to an enthusiastic start in the presence of more than 1,500 delegates from across the world, along with buyers, sellers, manufacturers, dignitaries from various spheres of the industry and also thousands of coir workers.
The infrastructure too was bettered with custom designed arches, domes, pavilions, lounges, seminar and meeting areas, presentation facilities complete with the best lighting and sound support. The whole venue which was illuminated beautifully was under tight security cover throughout the event.
Coir Kerala 2013 saw participating from more than 35 countries with almost the entire coir and natural fibre fraternity lending active support. Comprehensive national and international seminars touching upon crucial topics pertaining to the industry were held with the aim to create a vision document for coir. The live traditional art performances of Kerala were a treat to the eyes for the participants.
