Coir Kerala 2017 is organised by the Department of Coir Development, under the Ministry of Coir, Government of Kerala with the support of Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India. Coir Kerala 2017 is being coordinated by the National Coir Research & Management Institute (NCRMI), an agency under the Department of Coir Development, Government of Kerala; and the Kerala State Coir Corporation Limited.
The Department of Coir Development (Directorate of Coir Development) under the Government of Kerala is the organiser of the annual Coir Kerala Fair. The Directorate of Coir Development is the agency for implementing all policy decisions of the Government of Kerala regarding the coir industry. The Directorate is the controlling authority of the ten coir project offices spread across Kerala. The mission of the Directorate of Coir Development is to act as a facilitator for the promotion and sustainability of Coir sector in the State.

The Kerala State Coir Corporation Ltd. is a fully owned Government company set up in 1969 for the systematic development of coir industry in the State. The Corporation has its administrative wings and manufacturing facilities in a sprawling complex in Alleppey, Kerala. Its diversified operations include curled coir manufacturing and allied products sectors. The Corporation has the status of being the largest and the most diversified manufacturing plant in the country.

The Trivandrum based National Coir Research & Management Institute (NCRMI) is the coordinating agency for the annual Coir Kerala fair since 2012. NCRMI is an organisation spearheading various R & D projects in the traditional segment of Coir. NCRMI have been conducting studies for the development of new coir technologies in collaboration with similar research organisations across the country and at the International level.
